The tumbler.

The DARK MODE Activation Tumbler filled with a matcha latte, lit from behind on dark stone

Why we picked the vessel we picked, and why the material and the size are the whole point.

The pouch is what people notice first. The tumbler is why the pouch works the way it does.

This is the Activation Tumbler. Twelve ounces. Glass. It costs $18 standalone. It's free on your first subscription order.

We're not going to pretend we engineered a proprietary vessel from the ground up. We didn't. It's a 12-ounce glass tumbler with a cap. What we did do is choose the material and the size on purpose, and the reasons matter.

Why glass.

Most tumblers on the market are plastic. Some are stainless steel. We chose glass for two reasons.

Reusable. A glass tumbler survives a decade of use if you don't drop it. Every plastic tumbler eventually cracks, discolors, or picks up an odor that never leaves. We wanted a vessel that could sit on your kitchen counter for years and still look like it belongs there.

Neutral flavor. Glass doesn't hold onto old flavors or smells. Matcha is delicate. The whole point of full-dose matcha is that you can actually taste the leaf. Glass keeps it that way.

Steel would have worked too on both counts, but glass has one thing steel doesn't: you can see the drink. That matters more than it sounds. Matcha at full dose has a color — a deep, dense green that tells you the leaf is actually there.

Why 12 ounces.

Twelve ounces isn't a random spec. It's engineered around the drink.

At 5 ounces of cold water plus a full 3.5g DARK MODE pouch, you get the ratio of matcha to water that produces the balanced, latte-forward result the formula is tuned for. More water starts diluting. Less gets too intense.

There's also a practical reason: 5 ounces of water fits comfortably in the tumbler with room to shake. The shaking motion needs headspace — enough air in the vessel to actually agitate the liquid. A 12-ounce tumbler with 5 ounces of water leaves the right amount of shake room.

Why we included it.

We could have sent your first subscription delivery without it and left the shaker to you.

We didn't for one reason: the first shake matters. If the first cup you make with DARK MODE is in a random plastic sports bottle that already tastes vaguely of your last protein shake, we've lost. The tumbler exists so the first experience is the actual experience.

Also — once the tumbler is on your counter, DARK MODE has a physical footprint. It becomes a morning fixture. That's how habits actually form.

The standard.

Reusable glass. Twelve ounces. One pouch, 5 oz of cold water, shake.

The vessel isn't magic. It's just chosen carefully. That's the whole thing.
